Edge of the Sea Gallery
Edge of the Sea Gallery DVD
Produced and directed by gallery co-founder Sharon Lia Robinson, the sixty nine minute DVD features artists, poets and writers from Port Townsend, Washington. The gallery was Sharon’s vision to show the work of under-recognized and emerging artists, as well as friends of the gallery who were more widely known.
This documentary features archival interviews and photographs of local artists and their work, gallery events and happenings. The DVD includes interviews with Steven R. Johnson (gallery co-founder), Robert Komishane, Alexandra Lord, Mike O’Connor and Sharon, and updates on the featured artists and writers.
The gallery opened in l998 and closed in 2OO3. Ms. Robinson sees her work on this project as a way to share her journey and to inspire others. This film is a labor of love and a tribute to the artists involved.
The DVD is available in Port Townsend at The Candle Store, The Mad Hatter, Potpourri NW and Northwind Arts Center. The cost is twelve dollars.
If you are out of town and would like a DVD mailed to you, please send a check for sixteen dollars (to also cover postage) to Sharon Robinson, P.O. Box 895, Port Townsend, WA 98368.

The Edge of the Sea Gallery (1998 – 2003) was a sanctuary for art, dance & poetry exploring our highest potential. During the five years of its existence it evolved into a center for dance, music and poetry readings.
Dr, Fred Whitehead, a progressive arts advocates from Kansas City, has said of the DVD: “You’ve documented a small institution that created and preserved culture — something that I’ve urged everyone to do for years.”
Film Premier At Northwind Arts Center
On April 15, 2010 Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend, Washington hosted the premier of my film documentary “Edge of the Sea Gallery (1998-2003).” The event was a happy reunion for me of my old and new friends. Here are some of the people who were present. Photographs by Jil Buhler.
